Fishing Report 7th November 2025
Moruya River.
Fishing has been a bit limited this week , the strong blustery winds have made fishing the river, either from land or water, a less than pleasant activity. For those that have found a window of calm, there have been increasing numbers of bream, flathead and whiting in over the warm shallow sand flats.
The back of the hole in the wall has fished well for whiting on live nippers or squirt worms. With bream or flathead also been taken on soft plastics, hard body lures and the aforementioned baits.
We should also be seeing increased numbers of Luderick along the breakwall, and in front of the hole itself. Drift baits suspended under a float to try and tempt a few Luderick.
The airport flats will have cruising flathead, bream and hopefully the odd whiting, while the flats under the town bridge should also have the same species.
Further upstream there are some nice holes in front of the hospital, that will hold numbers of bream, trevally, flathead, Luderick and whiting.
Up in the fresh reaches, the bass continue to play ball, with plenty of anglers getting into some good sized fish. Come in and check out the new range of spinnerbaits, that are perfect for throwing into the tight structure that the local bass like to lurk. We have some great bass catching colour options now in store.
Tuross River.
Flathead have been the main stay of fish activity in Tuross this week, along with an increase in bream and whiting. The mulloway continue to be available to those who know where and when to look for them. Plenty of the local juniors are trying to get their first or improve upon previous captures. Soft plastics, live baits or good quality dead or frozen baits will work when chasing the grey ghost.
Luderick are starting to show in numbers for those that like the slower style of fishing that watching a float provides, that is untill you get a down!
Bream will be at home in amongst the systems plentiful oyster racks and snag lined edges. Soft plastics or hard body lures are my preferred option when chasing bream, with hard body lures my number one pick. Come in and check out the extensive range of lures we have on offer, I’m sure we have something that will suit you.
Coila lake continues to produce good numbers of black bream along the lakes weedy margins. Hard body lures and soft plastics will work a treat, and you can expect a few flathead to also come to play.
Rock and beach.
As the water temps continue to rise, the occurrence of bream and whiting in the gutters close to shore and areas of mixed ground will increase. Live worms are your pick of the baits for both these beach gutter cruisers. We have a few sets of worming pliers for you to try, we now have an awesome set of brass pliers that will last generations.
Salmon will always be an option along all the areas beaches, you just have to find where they are. Pilchards on a gang hooked paternoster rig are the go to,if you don’t want to throw metals. But both techniques work well when the fish are schooled up.
Offshore.
Snapper are still around in reasonable numbers, being found anywhere from 15m of water all the way out to 50m of water. Start in close and work your way out u till you find the fish. Expect to find a few gummy sharks around as well as the usual sand and tiger flathead.
The bait freezer was restocked last week, we still a few tubs of beach worms available, these will no doubt sell out over the weekend.
Come in and check out the Shimano gift packs we have in store, ranging from lures to enamel mugs and even socks for dad.
More stock arrives each week as we near the silly season.
We look forward to seeing you in store.
We would like to welcome Bo Edwards to the weekend team, he will be alternating with Dave for the weekend senior duties. Bo is a keen angler, and is regularly out fished by his son Dyqoun, who has graced the junior angler of the month entries on a regular basis. Happy to have you board mate.
Stay safe everyone and remember, “Every day’s a good day for fishing…”
